The ideal candidate should have good communication skills and be able to perform physically demanding tasks. The Commercial Tire Technician must have minimal training on class 8 equipment. All job duties must be performed in a way that promotes safe practices in accordance with Leonard's established safety programs. DutiesCompletes a daily yard check via a service truck to compile a daily worklistInspects and assesses tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health Determines repairable tire conditions and makes appropriate repairs Identifies mismatched tires and completes dismounting, mounting, and repairing as requiredCompletes the majority of daily work in the yard with the company service truckPerforms match mounting, match mating dual assemblies, and radial runout as necessary?Inflates tires to prescribed PSI per load requirements Removes tires and send them off-site for retreading or repair as neededPreforms preventative trailer maintenance inspectionsTroubleshoots mechanic failuresTests equipment and diagnoses equipment and trailer malfunctionsReplaces trailer light chord, air lines, mud flaps, hangers, marker lights & reflective tapeMakes repairs to warn or damaged partsFollows all safety protocols to include wearing protective gear and maintain a clean and safe work environment Provides quality repairs and achieves time per repair standardsMaintains compliance to parts procedures Complies with DOT regulations including driver's license for class of truck operatedPerforms other related duties as assigned

Provide positive interaction with peers, leaders and internal customers Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detailThe ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, meet assigned deadlines, and manage the related stressHave the desire to learn shop procedures and technical information, take initiativeEducation, Experience, and Other RequirementsBased on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Commercial Tire Technician is required to have:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Some class B technical school, experience working on automobiles, farm equipment or construction equipment Own basic set of tools Brake certification, Johnson Equipment can provide Must have a valid driver's license Physical and manual dexterity skills Physical and EnvironmentalThe Commercial Tire Technician is primarily located work environment with loud noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions and cold (weather related). Physical requirements include:Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistanceMust be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days; proper notice and reason is required if unable to work all scheduled daysTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
