Monday- Friday Shifts-- No Weekends
Under the direction of the Department Director, Manager and/or
Clinical Nurse Supervisor, provides high quality, cost-effective
nursing care, meeting the medical, psycho/social, spiritual,
emotional and educational needs of OR patients. Primarily
responsible for preparing patient for surgical procedures and
endoscopy procedures, and assisting during surgery. Performs
related assessments, planning, procedures/treatments, evaluations
and updates of patient plan of care that assures and maintains high
quality care for all assigned patients. Provides nursing care
consistent with established nursing policies, protocols, and
professional standards, and acts as a patient/family advocate to
assure appropriate provision of patient care and to protect
Safely and effectively performs Day Surgery/PACU/Endoscopy
procedures and treatments, maintaining sterile technique. Preps
patient for surgery, coordinates anesthesiologist pre-op visit;
administers pre-op meds as ordered; communicates/coordinates
allergies/problems or other information to physicians, staff, and
other departments as appropriate. Demonstrates appropriate airway
management, vital sign, O2 saturation and EKG monitoring.
Demonstrates competence in the knowledge and use of endoscopy
equipment. For PACU, ensures dressings, tubes and drains are
secured at end of procedure; applies splints, immobilizers and
slings as needed; and safely transports patient to next level of
care. Provides effective report to unit nurse. Gives discharge
instructions to patients and families.
Correctly documents all care and outcomes of care/treatment
provided in the medical records. Receives and follows through with
physician orders. Provides a thorough and organized report to team
members regarding patient's status. Documents charges
appropriately. Consistently communicates with appropriate staff to
ensure ordering of special supply needs for the department.
Demonstrates an awareness of and competence in ensuring patient
safety, including medical/healthcare error reporting,
interdisciplinary collaborative team approach to patient care
planning, and medication safety. Safely transports, transfers and
positions patients. Demonstrates competence in: sterile technique,
cautery machines, monitoring & documentation skills, Malignant
Hyperthermia, and latex allergies. Cleans, disinfects and leak
tests endoscopy equipment, and recognizes and reports malfunctions.
Serves as an advocate for patient safety and patient rights.

Education: Associates degree in nursing required, BSN
Licensure: Current Idaho RN license. Compact license accepted, must
obtain Idaho RN license within 90 days of hire.
Certification or Registration: Current American Red Cross or
American Heart Association Basic Life Support or obtain within 30
days of employment.
Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced
Cardiac Life Support or obtain within six months of employment.
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced
Life Support preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to manage multiple
priorities, effective problem resolution skills, ability to
communicate effectively with multiple levels in the organization
including patients, families, physicians, supervisors, directors
and other department representatives. Scrub skills recommended.
Circulate to all specialties except cardiac and neuro.
Experience: 1-2 years general nursing experience in acute care
setting preferred. Minimum six months experience in perioperative
