POSITION PURPOSE: The Bookkeeper performs store level human resource and personnel functions. They assist the Store Director and department managers in all employee and people related activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Create a culture of food exploration, innovation and education for customers and employees. Review and coordinate applications and employment needs within the store by department. Set up interviews for Department Managers; possibly assist in the interviewing process. Assist with job posting program including set up, scheduling interviews, closing and preparing all paperwork related to job posting. Administer pre-employment testing and information programs (e.g., MARS Program, drug testing). Assist Store Director with all new hire orientations (i.e. schedules, reviews forms for accuracy, help answer questions, set up employees personnel and medical files, compile and forward paperwork to proper personnel. Coordinate and follow up on training activities with department managers. Regulate all company compliance communications such as "read and sign" statements. Research, respond and resolve payroll and benefit issues related to employee's time and attendance, payroll corrections, new employee files, rate of pay, transfers, vacation, sick time, leaves of absence, etc. Coordinate all safety-related activities including monthly safety meetings. Order and assign uniforms, nametags and miscellaneous store supplies. Handles outgoing/incoming mail, e-mail and maintain miscellaneous office files. Update breakroom information/communication boards as needed. Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately. Ensure proper cleanliness and neat appearance of the office areas.
