Drop Plow Operator

Summary: The OSP Drop Plow Operator is responsible for
Installing the service cable from the house to the pedestal or the
road Right of Way. You may have to use mechanical boring equipment
or hand tools to install cables. Individual must be able to follow
oral and written instructions/specifications. Your interview may
include a demonstration of your level of skill. Compensation is
based on your level of skill. "Case", "Ditch Witch" and "Vermeer"
drop plow equipment. Your expert knowledge in our wide-range of
technology and services will provide customized solutions to meet
needs and elevate the installation experience. And to make sure you
hit the ground running, we'll provide training and the resources
you need in a supportive team environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be
assigned: Installs service from the pedestal (fiber, coax, or
copper) or the road Right of Way to the customer premise(outside )
. You may have to use mechanical or manual equipment to include but
not limited to boring / trenching & plowing. Individual must be
able to follow oral and written instructions/specifications. W e
are looking for an experienced backhoe, cable/drop plow operators
and foreman to place drops to customer homes or businesses.
Candidates must have experience working around underground
utilities and installing conduit and/or cables on either conduit or
direct bury projects
Experience operating project equipment such as; backhoe, mini
excavator, trencher, plow, tamper
Act as a customer contact. Interface with customers and local
supervisors to clarify project status.
Understand various soil and ground conditions for
Daily maintenance checks (grease, lube etc.) on the machines
Read communications prints for placing conduit or cables
Understand the proper procedures for preparing load and unload
signs, cones and barricades if necessary
Capable of using a backhoe, rake and mini excavator to perform
clean up and restoration when necessary QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed

valid drivers license us required (CDL is a plus)
Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical
Must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience with fiber optic
cable technology, formal fiber optic training desired.
Must have a good understanding of the technologies and standards as
they apply to the installation of fiber optic networks.
Must be able to differentiate color codes.
Must be able to Mid Entry fibers/Split Tubes.
Must be able to read and understand manufacture's manuals for
operating and repairing of electronic equipment and components.
Must have a working knowledge of design and layout for fiber
Must possess a good understanding of fiber documentation.
Must be able to think analytically.
Excellent customer presentation and service skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Ability to work well under pressure and deadline environments.
Ability to communicate with other staff.
Ability to handle on-call responsibilities.
Learn new equipment software and interfaces to help expand business
Work well within a team
Good written and oral communication skills
Good customer service skills
Good computer soft skills required
Adaptable to changing environments EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High
School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or five years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Some trade school training is desired. .
